Marbled Backpacks

Each backpack starts out its life as a cotton seed. Not much is known about the life cycle of cotton...at least not by me. Eventually it shows up in the Trippy Kitty workshop as a bolt of cotton duck material. 50 yards long and oh, I don’t know 45 to 60 inches wide. Fresh white fabric - Yea baby! Nothing like the smell of a fresh new clean un-dyed piece of fabric in the morning!! Just achin’ for some color!@*#! Generally I cut and marble large pieces of fabric in my dye sessions. I cut them 5 to 8 feet long depending on the situation and marble these big chunks of fabric. Each one becomes a unique piece of art itself.

From each marbled sheet I then sew a variety of items -all unique. Since they are made from the same length of fabric, the patterns and color combinations of these items are similar, but no two areas of that big ass marbled chunk of fabric are exactly alike so no two backpacks are exactly alike. Each bag is lined with shibori style hand dyed cotton muslin ( that’s right shibori – look it up fool!). They also feature an inside pocket for quick access to your keys or other goodies and a drawstring style closure that doubles as shoulder straps. These unique bags are sure to make people stop and notice. They are vividly colored and come in a variety of intricate and beautiful patterns. Combine that with a simple yet functional style and these bags are truly works of wearable art!

Gone But Not Forgotten...

Here are some "OUT OF STOCK" colors that can be made again. As long as you don't mind waiting a bit longer I can put your order up at the top of the to do list for my next marble session. I'll have to marble the fabric in the right colors and then sew a new pack, so allow extra time for that..
